Civil War Whistle - Inventory Number: MIS 069 / Sold

This is a rare pewter alarm or battle whistle. Used by both sides and the Army and Navy. Officers needed something that would pierce the sound of battle to signal their troops.  Similar style whistles are pictured in literally every reference book on dug battlefield relics. This one is made of pewter.  This one measures 1 ½” and is a non-excavated example in very good condition and still works. The lanyard ring is still attached.
