Large Civil War period utilitarian bottle with wicker covering and handle. These can be seen in many photos of Civil War camps. The name “J.T. Naylor” is scratched into the lip. The Civil War database shows two possible candidates. James T. Naylor of the 14th New Jersey was wounded on June 1,1864 at Cold Harbor and died of his wounds at the 3rd Division Hospital at Alexandria, Virginia on June 17, 1864. The bottle measures 13” by 5” wide. This is a very nice Civil War bottle that would look excellent in a camp display. This bottle was recently purchased from his descendants.
