Clipped Corner Breast Plate - Inventory Number: CON 205 / SOLD
Classic military plate of the 1850-60’s. This example is widely seen in period photos of early war confederate troops. This fine, non-excavated example retains a nice finish with gold gilt and mild patina. The back of the plate retains the large pin and clasp, still firmly affixed with solder. Slight bend to the bottom right could be straightened with gentle pressure. Purchased directly from a lifelong relic hunter and said to be from a trench thought to be occupied by the 13th Mississippi infantry on the Battlefield of Cold Harbor!
