Clipped Corner Militia Sling Plate - Inventory Number: BEL 353
Circa 1850s shoulder belt plate typical of those worn by militia units before the Civil War. the clipped corner plate is constructed of rolled brass with beveled edges and has three brass wire hooks soldered to the back. The plate measures 2 1/4 inches by 3/4th inche4s. A nice representative example. Recovered from the Battle of Cold Harbor.
Comes housed in a display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
