Confederate Bowie Knife – Inventory Number: CON 243 / SOLD

Constructed from a “Joe Brown” Georgia pike blade.  The Governor of GA, Joseph Brown, in 1861, asked the mechanics of GA to produce him pikes so that civilians could defend the state against the predicted Yankee hordes invading.  These pikes were ingeniously turned side knives by those who enlisted are encountered with a variety of handles and sheaths.  This fine example was mounted with a stag antler handle with silver guard, collar, and finial with engraved monogram “RB”.  Outstanding example of a Georgia soldier’s side knife! Measures 14 1/8” overall with a 9 ¼” blade.
