Confederate Bowie Knife - Inventory Number: CON 325 / SOLD
Massive southern Bowie knife, typical of those so popular with Confederate soldiers early in the Civil War. The crudely fashioned, clip point blade measures 11 ½” by 2” and is 3/16” thick with a sharp edge. The iron cross guard has a unique form and is somewhat wobbly due to shrinkage in the grip. A single piece, coffin handle wooden grip is fixed to the tang via six iron pins. The overall length of the knife is 17 ½”. An intimidating southern fighting knife that would make an impressive addition to a Confederate weapons collection.
