Confederate Officer Button - Inventory Number: BUT 007 / SOLD
Eagle facing right with 11 stars on a lined field with border, English wartime manufacture, Extra Rich Treble Gilt, (24mm) Button depicts eagle on pedestal facing right surrounded by 11 stars, intended for Confederate officers. Pattern was made late in the war, most did not make it through the blockade in time, and were unissued. Backmark: "EXTRA RICH / (dot) TREBLE GILT (dot)" dm outer ring of dots, inner solid ring, English manufacture unknown. Two part convex button, extremely well made, motif is high relief, coat size.
