Death of a Soldier - Inventory Number: GRO 013 / SOLD
An attractive display from the museum collection of Robert
C. Laurens of Pennsylvania whom displayed this in his museum in Wayne, PA. Housed in a custom made shadowbox frame with
its original typed display tag stating:
“Articles excavated in a fence corner at Cold Harbor dating from the ---- Battle. A fully cocked musket lock, a bent butt plate, bayonet scabbard tip, ---- infantry insignia. An iron heel plate, U.S. Belt Plate and Eagle Plate on which a piece of original leather was still attached. It is probable that the soldier was ready to fire but was hit by shell fragment before he could pull the trigger.”
