D.S. Brown & Co.  Merchant Tokens/Checkers - Inventory Number: MIS 160 / SOLD

Collection of 18 wooden merchant tokens by D.S. Brown & Company, a New York manufacturer of fine soaps and perfumes. They measure 1” in diameter with an eagle on one side and advertisement on the other and were intended to be collected and used as checkers. A unique example of 19th century advertising. 

Comes housed in an 8 x 14 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
