Enlistedman's Shoulder Scales - Inventory Number: INS 219 / Sold
Light artillery, cavalry troops, and some NCO's, musicians and privates of infantry units went to the front decorated with brass scales on their shoulders. Designed to ward of the blows of sabers by cavalrymen. This unique set has squared off ends and a toggle hole for attachment. Possibly prewar or southern made examples.
