The quadrangular blade on this bayonet distinguishes it as Austrian. Both sides imported large numbers of Austrian rifles and muskets throughout the Civil War. This one is in good, excavated condition, missing the locking ring and is nearly full length at 19 inches. “Fairfax Station” is painted in white on the blade, an area in northern Virginia that saw a flurry of activity from both sides throughout the entire Civil War.
