Excavated Model 1851 Eagle Sword Belt Plate Fredericksburg, VA - Inventory Number: BEL 348 / SOLD

Union sword belt plate as used by Cavalry and Non-commissioned officers. This dug example is missing most of the applied German silver wreath on the face. It appears that a strong force stretched the belt loop nearly to the breaking point and broke the attachment hook off the back, which is likely why this plate was lost during the Civil War. 

Comes housed in a 6 x 8 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
