Spring Lancet Civil War Era Bleeder

Spring Lancet - Civil War era blood letting spring loaded lancet. The case is brass and the blade is steel. The blade was cocked by the hook at end and released with the button on the side.   As a medical therapy, bleeding or bloodletting endured for approximately 2,500 years.  It was only abandoned at the beginning of the 19th century.
