Document grouping of Cornelius VanBuren.  24 documents with 9 wartime pieces ranging from war content letter, discharge and historical sketch of his military career.  

24 years old. Enlisted on 7/16/1861 at New York City, NY as a Private. On 7/16/1861 he mustered into "G" Co. NY 5th Infantry. The Civil war database erroneously has him as a deserter, but he was attached to the headquarters and served faithfully until July of 1864.  These documents contain a historical look into a famous Zouave regiment and its actions.
