Large, full cased ambrotype with a scarce outdoor urban scene. The image depicts the downtown area of Towanda, Pennsylvania. Several buildings can be viewed with their original store signs. The image is clear enough to read the broadsides affixed to the buildings and the signs in various windows. Two horse and buggies can be seen in the road. The glass plate is cracked in many places with two small square fragments missing. The full case is burgundy leatherette with a grapevine design. The velvet padding on the inside of the front cover is missing. A very historic image of a Pennsylvania town.
