Identified Confederate Cup - Inventory Number: IDE 092 / Sold
Constructed of heavy gauge metal with tin plating, this features exposed solder and flat bottom, an essential of the soldier on the march. This example measures 4 ½ x 3 ¾ tapering to 3 ¼ at the top. Identified on bottom of the cup with period incised notation:
“William Mc Mullen - Richmond VA - April 25 1862”
McMullen enlisted as a Captain in the Greene City Virginia Militia Infantry. And also the 4th VA Cavalry where he joined the regiment on 7/23/1864. Was taken POW 11/22/1864 at Mount Jackson, VA and confined 11/26/1864 in Point Lookout, MD. He was later exchanged on 2/28/1865.
