    Identified Confederate Tintype - Inventory Number: CON 193

    Lambert T. Baynes Captain of Company “B” 14th Virginia Cavalry and the 36th Battalion Virginia Cavalry (Gettysburg Regiment)

    Enlisted on 9/4/1862 at Hillsboro, VA as a 1st Lieutenant. Of Company "M" if the 14th VA Cavalry. He was transferred out on 2/5/1863. On 2/5/1863 he transferred into "B" Co. VA 36th Bn Cavalry. The regiment was engaged with a force of 125 at the Battle of Gettysburg, Lieutenant Bayles would receive a promotion on July 7th 1863, immediately after the engagement at Gettysburg.  He is listed as being captured February 15th 1864, and later paroled on 5/16/1865 at Staunton, VA.
