Identified Slouch Hat 1st Michigan Infantry - SOLD
Ca. 1861. Also known as a "Burnside Pattern" hat, this softer version of the Hardee hat is made of felt and has its original officer's hat cord. Hat cord is the classic wartime example of a Civil War Officer's hat cord. Netted acorns with gold bouillon and black silk, has a gold bouillon adjusting slide. The hat was apparently worn at two different heights during its service, as defined by subtle creases and small fold splits. Identified as belonging to an Officer in the 1st Michigan Infantry.
