Louis Henry Pelouze - Inventory Number: AUT 087 / SOLD
Louis Henry Pelouze was born in Pennsylvania in 1831 and graduated from West Point in 1853. He fought in the Seminole Indian Wars in Florida and then on the Kansas border disturbances before being promoted to Captain of the 15th U.S. Infantry on May 14, 186l. On August 9, 1862, as Acting Assistant Adjutant General he was severely wounded at the Battle of Cedar Mountain and remained on sick leave until October of that year. In February, 1863 he was named Assistant Adjutant General and in July took the same post with the Army of Virginia. He was transferred to Washington for the remainder of the war, he died on June 1, 1878.
