Medium Sized U.S. Box Plate on Cartridge Box by Langley & Co. - RARE - Inventory Number: LEA 353 / SOLD

Rare Medium sized Cartridge Box Plate on a Longley & Co. Lewiston ME / 1863. original dated box.  This original Civil War M-1855 Cartridge Box with rare maker. The outer flap is very good. The inside is excellent. The leather is supple with minimal crazing. The inner strap is in nice shape and complete. The finial is present as are the two Japaned roller buckles. Stitching overall is tight and in great shape. According to O’Donnell and Campbell’s reference book “American Military Belt Plates”, these very rare plates and buckles may have been issued to a New York unit. Excellent condition. Measures 78 x 47 mm. Both iron attachment loops intact. 

Box is complete with both tins, leather is pliable.  A wonderful addition to any collection.
