Militia Artillery Saber - Inventory Number: SWO 165 / Sold

Peterson #38.  Brass hilt stirrup form guard with broad langets.  Leather covered grip without wire wrap.  32 1/2" broad fullered curved blade.  Excellent untouched example with gray and brown patina to the blade.  Original cross polish.  Grip leather and scabbard dry from age.  Type used through the War of 1812 and Civil War as well, both with substantial state militia involvement under a weaker central government.  Good untouched character.
