Model 1858 Smooth Side Canteen / SOLD

Classic Civil War U.S. issued smooth side canteen. The body of the canteen is in good condition with some light rust spots and dings and dents from use. One of the tin sling loops is missing. A hole has been drilled into the pewter spout, a common alteration by soldiers as an air vent during drinking. The leather sling with adjustment buckle is a very old period replacement. A representative Civil War Union soldier’s canteen.
