National Guard Badge - Inventory Number: INS 227 / SOLD

Wonderful solid gold example from the Civil War.  The National Guard played a major role in the war and many of its members joined the ranks on the Battlefield as well as home guard.  This rare badge retains its original T-bar pin device and open clasp design on the reverse.  The face bears a masterfully executed jewelers' script reading, "Pro Patria Ex Gloria".
