NCO Sword Altered into Bowie Knife / SOLD

 Originating from the estate of G. F. McConnell, this knife was fashioned from a Model 1840 non-commissioned officer’s sword.  The brass ribbed grip and cross-guard have been filed to a small diamond shaped mount.  The blade has a well-formed clipped point bowie tip and a length of 13 ¼”.  Overall length is 19 ¼”.  The original sword markings are discernable: “U.S.”, inspectors initials and the date of 1863. Neat relic!
