Original Civil War 13 Star Flag – Inventory Number: FLA 058
An original Civil War 13 star parade flag, printed on polished cotton. Parade flags were small scale flags intended for short term use at parades, celebrations, inaugurations, etc. They were mounted to a wooden dowel shaft to be waved.
The 13 Star flag was common during Civil War as it was relatively close in time to the revolution, and were very patriotic times, it is important to note Civil War time period when flag use became much more common than had ever previously been the case.
Its stars are arranged in a medallion pattern, in which there is a large star in the middle, a ring of stars surrounding the large star, and a star flanking in each corner.
A beautiful example of a tool of patriotism.
The flag measures 3 ½” x 2 ½”, the staff measures 8”
Comes housed in 8 x 12 riker display case with black velvet and descriptive card.
