Original Civil War Period Cap & Ball W. Ashton Under-hammer Single Shot Percussion Boot Pistol - Inventory Number: HAN 246 / SOLD
Boot Pistol by W. Ashton (Wm Ashton of Middleton, Ct.) circa 1850. Overall length 10”. The barrel has a pleasing brown finish. Slab grips are in good condition with one hairline on right grip. A nice boot pistol.
Marked American made boot pistols are very scarce and Ashton was a well-known maker at the time having supplied arms to the United States Government. They were very prolific makers, and it is unusual that they would have spent time making quality hide-away guns. Barrel Length: 6″ Caliber/Bore: .32 Rifled Antique Manufacturer: W. Ashton Model: Under hammer. A very interesting civil war pistol with lots of eye appeal. This gun’s spring is tight, and it does function. Many weapons like this were used during the Civil War. Very nice U.S. made example.
