Ornate Cane Carved from a Whale Penis Bone / SOLD

Victorian cane carved from whale ivory, specifically from “dork,” or whale penis bone. The cane measures 32 ¼” and has a bird and butterfly design carved in relief near the handle. Two silver rings adown the top of the cane, one bearing hallmarks which date the cane to 1886 and the other the initials “F.V.F.” The silver cap at the top bears the letter “J.” An ornate and unique 19th century cane.
