Outstanding War Painted Canteen - Inventory Number: CAN 074 / SOLD
Model 1858 Union Bullseye Canteen manufactured and marked by Hayden, Booth and Porter of Philadelphia on the spout. The front scene depicts a soldier seated reading a letter by a campfire. The reverse depicts a soldier with a flag with a tent in the background. The surface of the paint is overall good and over 90% present throughout. The paint has the addition of Mica chips which catch light and allow the canteen to shimmer in appearance, just a wonderful example of Civil War folk art.
