Wonderful example of a smooth side Model 1858 canteen with well executed scene depicting a lone farmhouse in the distance and soldiers actively firing in the line of battle while reinforcements amass. The boarder, pewter spout, and reverse are painted black. Very likely a scene from Bull Run in Virginia exhibited in a Veteran’s Hall. This example was from the collection of Stan Landis and Gene Lomas for the last 50+ years. Spectacular display piece.
