Pair of Civil War Era Artillery Fire Buckets- Inventory Number: ART 453
Civil War era, sewn leather fire buckets, once common in all homes and shops, and so rarely found today. Both measure approximately 11" tall in the body, have a 9" diameter reinforced mouth that tapers to 5 1/2". Both buckets have painted notations, one reads, “Fulton Fireclub” on banner lacking handle. The second retains the original wrapped and sewn handle, usually long missing, is still with its iron rings. Both buckets are in good clean sound condition, with some age warp as shown, that does not threaten its strength. All in all, a great early 19th century period leather fire buckets.
