Pattern 1851 Sword Belt Buckle - Inventory Number: BEL 413
Excavated Pattern 1851 sword belt buckle and keeper for cavalry and artillery enlisted men and worn by infantry NCOs. This early-war style had the applied German silver wreath with two additional wreath sections above the eagle’s wings, now missing. In good dug condition with a plum patina overall. This style is listed as plate 624 in American Military Belt Plates by Michael J. O’Donnell & J. Duncan Campbell.
Comes housed in a 6 x 8 inch display case with black velvet backing and descriptive card.
