Pattern 1851 Sword Belt Buckle, Allegheny Arsenal - Inventory Number: BEL 398 / SOLD

Pattern 1851 sword belt buckle for cavalry and artillery enlisted men and worn by infantry NCOs. This style has the applied German silver wreath with two additional wreath sections above the eagle’s wings. The back of the buckle is stamped “US/ALLEGHENY/ARSENAL. This example is listed on page 374 of American Military Belt Buckles by O’Donnell and Campbell. In excellent condition with great visual appeal.

Comes housed in an 8 x 6 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
