Undoubtedly unique handwritten broadside which was tacked to a building calling on the patriotism of young brave men of the town to serve their country and go to war.
136 men from this town served, with 20 having died in the service.

A meeting will be held
at the
Town Hall
on
Thursday Evening
August 28th at 7 ½ Oclock
to encourage
the enlistment of Volunteers
for nine months
Hon'l. B.W. Harris of E. Bridgewater
and others are expected to address the meeting -
Citizens of Pembroke rally to the meeting and
bring your wives and friends with you
A Draft is close upon us,
and if arested, immediate action must be taken -
It is hoped a sufficient number of volunteers will
enlist, at the meeting, to fill out quota.
The services of the Old Colony Brass Band have
been secured for the occasion
