The Guardian American “Model of 1878” 12MM Pinfire Revolver, made in Belgium circa 1880 by Fagnus & Clément. Casimir Lefaucheux patented the pinfire cartridge in 1835 and son Eugene designed the pistol. The pinfire cartridge was one of the first successful self-contained cartridges in history, and the pistol saw prolific use in America and Europe during the 19th century, even being adopted by some militaries.
