    Rare Union League of America Ribbon & Medal - Inventory Number: MIS 129 / SOLD

    The Union League was founded in Philadelphia on December 27, 1862 and was formed of Democrats and Republicans united in their support of President Lincoln and to unite the city in patriotism.  In the first two years the Military Recruitment Committee raised 15 infantry, cavlary, and artillery regiments.  The Board of publications printed over 2 million pamphlets supporting the Union cause and the league was instrumental in convincing the national government officials to form the first of the U.S. Colored Troop Units. Very nice and rare CW period ribbon/ medal related to this famed Lincoln support group.

    Comes housed in 6 inch x 8 inch riker display case with black velvet backing and descriptive card.
