Original ink inscribed envelop stating; "A piece of the flagstaff on Fort Sumpter - & some Confederate money 10 cent piece 1861"
Accompanied by an original albumen photograph of the interior of the Fort after the bombardment, "Sea Wall Fort Sumpter". The small section of flagstaff is accompanied by a piece of tissue paper bearing a period pencil inscription that reads: "A bit from the flag staff of Fort Sumter J. W. G. June 1865" and 10 cent South Carolina currancy. The currency is dated June 1862 City of Charleston, S.C. Ten Cents, "This Note shall be received in payment of Taxes and other dues to the City of Charleston." With a vignette of a palmetto tree. Nicely displayed and framed. Frame measures 9 3/8"w x 20 7/8"h.
