This .58 caliber three-piece Shaler bullet, with its matching patina, was recovered in Fredericksburg, VA. This example has been glued with Elemer’s glue to hold shape.

The Shaler bullet is one of the most interesting bullets from the Civil War. It is a multi-piece .58 caliber bullet that was invented by Reuben Shaler and patented on August 12, 1862. After it was fired, the three sections would spread apart allowing for more impact points on its designated target.

Comes housed in 6 inch x 8 inch riker display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
