Sharps Carbine Cartridge - Inventory Number: BUL 465
.54 caliber, linen-wrapped, combustible cartridge in excellent original condition, and was used in the earlier Model 1855 Sharps carbine. Specimen has the bullet attached to a cartridge case made of white linen that when fired, was completely consumed by the powder charge explosion. It did not need to be opened to expose the powder that was ignited by the flame from a regular percussion cap. The .54 caliber, conical minie ball and its accompanying powder charge are still encased within the original light-colored linen wrap. It retains its original paper butt seal base of the cartridge.
Comes housed in 6 x 8 riker display case with black velvet and descriptive card.
