Hallmarked silver folding fruit knife with nut pick and 3 ¼” handle. The knife comes in a decorative paper covered cardboard box with a period note in ink that is partially illegible. It reads “This old knife was carried by a near relative in the Mexican and the Civil War a brave soldier and a gentleman, the knife was old and time used when it came into his possession and I pass on to you feeling that you will appreciate the intrinsic value of a seemingly poor gift, although work by a soldier on the other side, from “The Republican.” An interesting and unique Civil War personal effect.
