Skull Boring Instrument Trephine / Sold

Civil War surgeons utilized trephines to perform minor brain surgery during the conflict. About 200 attempts at “trepanation,” or drilling into the skull, were recorded during the conflict. Surgeons utilized trepanation to relieve swelling on the brain from serious head injuries or certain types of fevers.
