Small S.N.Y. Belt Plate “State of New York” - Inventory Number: BEL 447 / Sold

 At the beginning of the Civil war, the State of New York issued brass waist belt plates and cartridge box plate to its first volunteer infantry regiments deploying for field service. This belt plate specimen is non-dug and in excellent overall condition.

The solid and heavy plate measures approximately 2.2” x 3.5” and is die-struck rolled sheet brass construction. The reverse retains the original lead fill, with one arrowhead hook and one tongue hook on the reverse.  The face of this brass plate specimen is double-bordered and has not been cleaned. Shows accumulated, scattered spotting within the original gold finish. This SNY belt plate would be a fine addition to any Civil War accoutrement plate collection or New York military display.

Comes housed in a 6 x 8 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
