S.N.Y. Cartridge Box Plate - Inventory Number: BEL 278 / SOLD
State of New York (SNY) belt plate with the "puppy paw' studs. Recovered from the Battlefield of Spotsylvania, VA. This buckle is approximately 89mm wide and about 58mm high. There are normal dings and marks from use and exposure but very nice overall. The lead on the back is solid with nearly all the lead, both studs and hook present. This pattern was used by pre-war NY militia regiments which were activated and placed under Federal control during the war. Pattern is Kerksis Figure 123. Very nice example!
