Starr Carbine with Name carved in Stock! - Inventory Number: RIF 172
Though a relatively short-lived company, the Starr Arms Co. came from longer line of U.S. weapons makers given Ebanezer T. Starr was the descendant of Nathan Starr Jr. and Sr. who manufactured swords and rifles for the government earlier in the 19th century. Starr Arms Co. was also the third largest supplier of revolvers and fifth largest supplier of carbines for the Union during the Civil War making them an important company for students and collectors of Civil War arms. Approximately 20,600 of these percussion carbines were manufactured by Starr Arms Company during the Civil War for the U.S. government. This example is in sound condition with a soldier’s name nicely carved in the stock. No research conducted yet.
