    State of New York Belt Buckle from Salem Church - Inventory Number: BEL 392 / SOLD

    New York “SNY” enlisted belt plate with a slick, deep bronze patina and brass stud “puppy paw” belt hooks. This “broad letter’ style was produced from 1861-1863 and is pictured as plate 546 in American Military Belt Plates by O’Donnell and Campbell. The plate has an old adhesive label on the back that reads ‘SALEM CHURCH ‘73” The Battle of Salem Church was a bloody, day-long action fought a few miles west of Fredericksburg, Virginia on May 3, 1863, as part of the Battle of Chancellorsville. A desirable belt buckle in wonderful, excavated condition.

    Comes housed in a 6 x 8 inch display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
