Tarred Militia Cartridge Box - Inventory Number: LEA 226 / Sold

Very nice example of an early Civil War cartridge box with tarred surface to protect the cartridges from the elements.  The box is complete with its original closure tab and both belt loops intact.  These were used by both sides in the early part of the war, although mostly associated with Confederate regiments.
