The American Defender - Inventory Number: EDG 114 / SOLD

Spearpoint, side knife measuring 9-inches overall, manufactured by Manson of Sheffield. This example features a 5-inch etched blade with the motto Americans self-defender. The ricasso is marked S&K indicating that it was an import by the firm of Schnitzler and Kirschbaum a well-known importer of Civil War sabers. The handle is constructed of a pair of hardwood slabs fixed by well camouflaged pins. The sheath is leather with a gold embossed border and silver mounts. A very attractive example of a Civil War soldier’s side knife.
