"All accounts from the Army of the Potomac agree in representing that the series of engagements at Gettysburg, geginning on Wednesday noon and closing on Friday night, have resulted in a conclusive victory for the national arms.  The full forces of the two armies have measured their strength fairly on the field of the enemy's own choosing."
