Solar Calendar Watch
Ca. 1770
Historic travelers’ sundial. This device was invented in 1640. It is a pocket sundial that provides the local time with the sun at any date of the calendar.
When the sundial is opened horizontally, one turns the solar clock until the needle of the compass is on the North of the wind rose and read the shadow of the string on the dial. Inclination of the string corresponds to the latitude.
Neat original example.
