    Union Sergeant with Colt Revolver ID'd as Robert S. Goodall - Inventory Number: HAR 034 / Sold

    Standing view of Union sergeant wearing a nine-button frock coat with shoulder scales and hand-tinted sergeants’ chevrons.  Tucked into his U.S. belt is a Colt Revolver.  Housed in a full leatherette case with patriotic mat.  Interior of the left side of the case is lined with embossed red velvet.  Pencil ID more modern, most likely family ID. 

    Robert S. Goodall's residence is listed as Fitchburg MA; 19 years old.  He enlisted on 4/20/1861 as a Private.  On 5/2/1861 he mustered into "G" Co. NH 1st Infantry.  He was Mustered Out on 8/9/1861 at Concord, NH.  On 10/23/1861 he mustered into "F" Co. NH 5th Infantry and he re-enlisted on 2/19/1864.  He was discharged for wounds on 9/13/1865.   He was listed as: * Wounded 12/13/1862 Fredericksburg, VA  * Wounded 4/7/1865 Farmville, VA (Severe wound in right forearm).  Promotions include Sergeant.   Died 6/11/1866.
