U.S. Belt Plate and Original Belt - Inventory Number: BEL 326 / SOLD
Scarce original leather belt with leather keeper device. The model of 1840 was the classic issued belt of the first year of the Civil War. The plate is in very nice condition with much of its original gold gilted finish intact. The reverse of the plate retains its lead fill and exhibits a pair pf arrowhead hooks and tongue device. There is a century old repair section on leather on the inside of the belt. Classic accoutrement of the soldier in 1861!
